You have a beautiful body of landscape work, Jon. To me, it feels more like a record of an inner state than simply a record of a place. Your photographs evoke such a sense of calm - they're so gentle and soothing. I especially loved the image of the dry hay, the one walking through the forest where it almost feels as if the plants are giving you a high five. And Gilles - excellent interview! Very informative interview.
A lovely read both. Thank you, i started off taking the grand vistas like so many landscape photographers, but now i get more pleasure in photographing the images within the vistas. It’s also good to step outside your comfort zone and try different genres. Thanks again.
Such an interesting read! As I said before, these interviews have a great depth to them and seem to offer the photographer in the spotlight plenty of room to be understood for what he/she wants to express. I have seen a lot of Jon's work, but look at it a bit differently after having read this conversation. Thanks to you both, Giles and Jon!
Excellent conversation. It is a different time we live in, and many adjustments will be made in the coming few years, that is for sure! Thank you, both!
A very interesting read. Congratulations to you both. I've seen Jon's name and his work a few times and it's great to get to know someone's mindset as well as their work. Shooting "bleak" and "off season" definitely resonates with me as (a) I'm not a sun worshipper, (b) places are quieter and the weather can be a bit more dramatic.

Our pleasure, Joy. What you’ve described resonates with my own journey as a photographer and I am sure will do with many others too. 👍🏻
I think everyone reaches the point at some stage in their photography journey .
