Another fabulous set of images Giles, the iPhone really is an essential tool for photographers these days and the flower pictures look great. Is it just me, or are you building a collection of litter bin images? 😉

Thanks, Dave. Bins, doors, pallets. I have collections coming out of my ears 😂

Thanks and no, they are all made using the native lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max

These are lovely images Giles – beautifully framed and processed, really great results using the i-phone. I’ve tried to get macro on my S22 in the past but sadly there’s no dedicated mode…could be an excuse for an upgrade!! 😂

Thanks, Lin. I’ve never tried the S22 but would be surprised if the latest don’t have a macro mode. Go on, you know you want a new one 😉😂

A lovely set Giles. The standout images for me are the b+w blossoms (and oak leaves!). They look absolutely fabulous. My favourite flower is the dog rose, I love to see them this time of year. So fragile, they do seem to get battered easily, yet when you're lucky enough to see one intact they are so beautiful with their soft, pale pink petals and golden centre. I wouldn't normally consider their countenance in b+w, but your rendering of one with it's attendant leaves is sublime.

Btw I think this is an area of photography (and close-ups in general) where phone cameras really excel.

Thanks, Ralph. So pleased you like them, especially the bnw. It seemed the right way to render them, drawing attention to the contrasting shapes and textures. It’s a new area for me, but one I’m enjoying and have been pleasantly surprised with how great the phone is for these kind of shots too. Nice and easy to slide into the vegetation and get nice and close.

Great bloom shots on the ol’ phone!! Love the other series as well (as always) with special appreciation for the Light Around the House (as always).

Quite an effect isolating the subject with black background, I have done it in studio and I love that you found a way in LR. As far as “iphonography”, it’s come a long way, the two of bees I posted earlier this week in notes were taken on my iPhone and although not the same as my dedicated macro lenses, it does the job in their absence!

Thanks Paul and yes, indeed it has. While my "proper cameras" do still give me a better image, my iPhone is perfectly acceptable, especially for sharing digitally. Like the bee photos by the way. I was busy chasing one around with my iPhone earlier and getting weird looks 😆

Your wild roses are lovely; the ones near me are only just beginning to come out. I love taking macro shots with my iPhone when out walking, especially of wildflowers. I haven’t tried Lightroom mobile, yet - usually head for my big screen - but perhaps I will…

Thanks, Jane and Lightroom Mobile is great. However make sure you gave a power source or battery pack nearby as it sucks the life out of your phone battery 😧

Thanks, Rachel and glad you like them. Macro is a whole new area to me and I am learning as I go but definitely enjoying it so far 😄
